Nomura Foundation Scholarships have been announced. It is available for all internationals students to pursue their graduate studies in Japan. Talented and academically excellent students can apply. The scholarship is partially funded scholarship that can cover the educational and other related expenses of the students.
The scholarship is awarded to the international students who are expected to become bridges between Japan and other countries. The primary aim of the scholarship is to:

The Nomura Foundation Scholarship is limited to only sic universities till date. These are:
- University of Tokyo,
- Hitotsubashi University,
- Kyoto University,
- Osaka University,

Majorly, the scholarship is designed for the fields of:
- Humanities
- Social sciences.

Duration of scholarship:
The scholarship is available for 2 years for only 10 deserving students.
Who is eligible for the scholarship?
The students who fulfill the basic requirements for the scholarships can apply for the Nomura Foundation Scholarships. The applicants must be:
- International students from any nationality, race or country
- Students who want to pursue higher education (undergraduate or graduate) in Japan
- Able to communicate in Japanese language fluently.
- Applying for need based scholarship for financial assistance
- High achievers in their academic life.
- No older than 35 years of age as of 1st April, 2025.
- Student visa holder for Japan.
- Have an address in Japan with plan to reside here.
- Not be the scholarship recipient of more than 50,000 yen per month from any other source.
How to apply for the Nomura Foundation Scholarships ?
To apply for the Nomura Foundation Scholarships, the candidates have to follow the following steps.
- Register yourself on the application portal of MY PAGE.
- Create your account and open Grant application form.
- Fill the application form with all the information asked.
- Don’t forget to save to application.
- Choose your university from the six universities.
- Download an application form in Word doc from the Grant application reception screen.
- Upload all the documents.
- Submit the application before the deadline.
- Late applications will not be accepted.

Required documentation:
- Application form (which is downloaded and filled). The application form must be typed in japenese language. Handwritten application is not accepted.
- Research Plan (Research Content)” can be filled out in either Japanese or English
- Academic record/ transcripts
- Notification of acceptance or certificate of enrollment
- Recommendation letter from the supervisor or professor. It can either be uploaded in PDF form or mailed to the scholarship office (sealed and unopened. It must be must be written in free format, in either Japanese or English

Deadline:
The deadline for to apply for the Nomura Foundation Scholarships is September 30, 2025, 5:00 PM (Japan time). The start date of the application is 2nd September.
