The Royal Thai Government Scholarships are a project of the Thai government. The government has announced scholarships for all the talented and dedicated national and Asian students. The scholarship is fully funded and covers all the tuition fees, monthly stipend, and accommodation allowances as well.

The Asian Institute of Technology is offering these scholarships for master’s level and postgraduate doctoral programs. The students from all the Asian countries can easily apply for the scholarships. The main purpose of these scholarships is to:

Categories of Royal Thai Government Scholarships

This scholarship program is a highly diverse program, and this can be divided into a number of categories.

  • His Majesty the King’s Scholarships for Doctoral Programs

The scholarship is awarded to the high achievers of bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The students can pursue their PhD degree in the top-notch institutes of the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD), and the School of Engineering and Technology (SET). The scholarship is specially designed for ASEAN and other Asian countries.

  • His Majesty the king’s Scholarships for Master’s Program

The scholarship aims to provide a Master’s degree to high achievers of a bachelor’s degree. Aspirants can avail any program and any subject from the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and the School of Management (SOM).

  • Her Majesty the Queen’s Scholarships for Master’s Program

Any student who wants to pursue the master’s in environment-oriented programs can seek the scholarship from the School of Environment, Resources, and Development (SERD).

  • Loom Nam Khong Pijai (GMS Scholarships) for Master’s Programs

This is a special scholarship program to support human resource development in the GMS countries. The students can pursue master’s degrees in any field, including infrastructure development, oil, gas, natural resources development, and energy technology.

The countries that are included in Greater Mekong Sub-region GMS are:

  • Cambodia,
  • Southern Part of China: Yunnan and Guangxi provinces,
  • Laos,
  • Myanmar,
  • Vietnam and
  • Thailand

Eligibility Criteria for the Royal Thai Government Scholarships

The eligibility criteria for master’s and doctoral programs are:

  • The applicants from Asian countries can only apply for the scholarship.
  • The students must have completed their 4-years bachelor’s degree from a reputed institute to be eligible for the master’s program.
  • Bachelors and master’s degrees are necessary for the doctoral students.
  • The student must have a strong academic record with a CGPA of 2.75 or above in bachelor’s, and a 3.5 CGPA in master’s for the doctoral degree.
  • English proficiency is mandatory to become eligible. (IELTS overall score 6; TOEFL overall score 80; PTE Academic overall 52).
  •  A satisfactory mental and physical health is ensured.

How To Apply for the Scholarships

  • Go to the official website and open the application portal from the apply now button.
  • Register yourself by creating your account.
  • After the account creation, fill out the application form by adding accurate information and documents needed.
  • Submit the application fees of $25 or Baht 800. (It is non-refundable). It is mostly online payment. But you need to fill the application processing fee payment notification form if the application fee is not submitted online.
  • Now, submit the application form.

The scholarship is announced in annual basis. The deadline for the submission of the application for August intake is 28th February 2025 , and for January intake is 20th December.

  1. Is it necessary to go for IELTS?

Yes, English proficiency is necessary for the scholarships. It may be AIT EET, IELTS, TOEFL etc.

  • Is there any application fee?

Yes, the non-refundable application fee of 25 USD or 800 Bhat is required to be submitted.

All the Asian countries can apply. The ASEAN member countries are also included. The scholarship is also open to Thai nationals.
