Canadian government scholarships have been announced. It is available for all internationals students to pursue their undergraduate and graduate studies in Canada. Talented and academically excellent students can apply via eligible host institutions.  The scholarship is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD). Canadian institutions receive the funds and transfer to the successful candidates. The scholarship is fully funded scholarship that can cover the educational and other related expenses of the students.

  • Diversify their international linkages across all Canadian institutions.

Benefits of the Canadian Government Scholarships:

  • The value of the scholarship program for the undergraduate program is $10,200
  • The scholarship amount of $10,200 is awarded to graduates of four months.
  • The scholarship amount of $12,700 is awarded to the graduate program of 5 to 6 months.
  • the student may cover the following expenses from the awarded scholarship amount.
  • visa or study/work permit fees.
  • airfare via the most direct and economical route
  • health insurance
  • living expenses, such as accommodation, utilities and food

ground transportation, including a public transportation pass

  • books and supplies required for their study or research,

Note: Study supplies do not include computers and other equipment

Duration of the scholarship:

The normal duration of the scholarship depends upon the program or degree level.  It is a short-term program.

  • The undergraduate program is for four months or one academic term
  • Graduate program lasts for between four to six months.

The Canadian Government Scholarships is restricted to some countries around the globe. These are:

  • Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan
  • Europe: Türkiye, Ukraine
  • Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia
  • Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda

Who is eligible for the scholarship?

The students who fulfill the basic requirements for the scholarships can apply for the Canadian Government Scholarships.

  • The students must have the nationality of one of the eligible countries.
  • The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time students in any of the post-secondary institutions in his host country.
  • The applicant must be a tuition fees payer to that institution at the time of application. It must include for the full duration of your exchange

Who is not eligible for the scholarship?

Any student who falls in the following criteria is not eligible for the scholarship:

  • The student is holding a Canadian nationality.
  • He holds a pending application for citizenship in Canada.
  • He is enrolled in any Canadian institutions in regard of any degree, diploma or any certification.

How to apply for the Canadian government scholarships?

Before applying for the scholarship:

Canadian and non-Canadian institutions must have to follow some instructions for the scholarship. Students who want to study in Canada must review the instructions before applying: 

  • Review the eligibility requirements
  • Ask your international office if your school has an exchange agreement with a Canadian post-secondary institution
  • Contact your international office to learn more about the application process and any admission requirements for the Canadian institution

Application procedure:

Application instructions for Canadian institutions applying on behalf of eligible students

  • You have to asssign a program coordinator to complete applications.
  • Select “Login or Register” to create a My EduCanada account.
  • Select the Study in Canada Scholarships Program and click “Apply”.
  • Fill the application form and follow the instructions on the application form.
  • Click “Validate and save” by the completion of the application form.
  • Upload all required supporting documents.

Note: Each document must be smaller than 5 MB and in .jpg, .gif, .png, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt or .xlsx format.

  • Read and accept the conditions of the “Declaration and permission” statement.
  • Click “Submit”.
  • You will receive a confirmation message and a reference number for submitted applications.
  • Save or print a copy of your completed application form using the “Download” function.

Supporting documents:

  • Passport or national identity card
  • Signed privacy notice statement.
  • Letter of intent/ motivation: it must highlight the nature of studies or research to be undertaken.
  • Letter of proof of full-time enrolment from the home institution on office haed letter within last 6 months.
  • Letter of support from the home institution. It must be on official letterhead from the professor or instructor.
  • Letter of invitation from the Canadian supervisor for graduate students.
  • Signed copy of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) or Agreement with the partner institution
  • Ranking of application.

What is the selection criteria of the scholarship?

  • Merits of the study or research that will be conducted in Canada
  • Benefit for peers and the home institution
  • Benefit for the Canadian organization, peers, and supervisor
  • Strength of the connections to be made using the Canadian institution’s suggested exchange rankings.

The deadline for Canadian institutions to submit online applications on behalf of students is 11:59 p.m. EDT, March 19.
